The Story Behind Karastan Rugs
Karastan rugs first came about in 1928. When Marshall Fields started using looms, they were able to produce woven rugs, and from there, a new company was born. These rugs first went under the name "Mystery Rugs, " and people were indeed mystified about many of the qualities they had that were ahead of their times.
People really became impressed by these rugs at the 1933-34 World's Fair. The company was demonstrating its Kirman pattern rug, and encouraging people to walk on it. This of course left it full of grime, and all who saw it doubted it could be cleaned - only to be shocked when they saw it could, and that it was easy to do.
The company has expanded since its initial creation. Now, you can find almost any sort of rug you want, in any size starting from 2' 10" by 5' 9", and in wool or synthetic fibers. But these are just the start of your choices, and no matter what your home needs, you're bound to be able to find the perfect thing for your situation.
This is a company that is always working to make their products better. Different varieties of the original brand have come about in recent years. Sisal Wool is just one, and came about in 1992 as a response to a desire for sisal in the marketplace while making the product as easy to clean and care for as the rest of the line.
Karastan also brought new processes into the world of rug making. In 1997, they began something called the TeaWash, designed to make brand new rugs look antique, and those more exquisite. Rugs that made use of this innovation came in several different designs and looked valuable while still being very affordable in most cases.
Finally, in 2006, a new line was born in Sharpura, intended for more modern audiences. With interior design in mind, they were meant to fit into newer homes more easily, using colors that fit with the themes already in place there while still offering a variety so that interested customers had a lot of choices to pick from.
Of course, this is a mere introduction, and the more you get into the world of these rugs, the more you'll see that there's bound to be something you'll like. Take a look at all the different lines and varieties to find one that will work for your design plans - or that you can design around. Either way, it's a great investment for the home.
