Using Rugs In Your Home

An area rug may be a teeny-weeny vision in a room, especially one that is considered big and grand. But did you know that this teeny-weeny piece of decorating material can actually be the central element in transforming any room?

In decorating a room, pick a theme first and work your way around this. Do you prefer a brightly colored room or a place rich in subtle earth tones? The best rugs for a home interior are those that complement the color of the room itself. Once you have made up your mind for your room's scheme, you can now shop for the right color with different types of rugs. The most popular are Persian rugs known for their quality and elite status, hence the expensive price tag. There's also the Oriental type with the elaborate and intricate designs, as well as transitional rugs best for almost all places because of their versatile quality. This kind easily blends elements and colors to suit a room well.

A vital criterion in choosing a rug is its ability to catch attention. It should be attractive enough to beautify a room regardless of size. The three kinds of rug above-mentioned are usually designed with a central medallion in bright colors, which will definitely be hard to miss.

Your rug as a focal point is also the basis of other decors. They should match it in color or at least have a neutral tone but also doesn't necessarily mean boring. Things like a chair, an ottoman or even a beanbag can be in neutral tones but made more interesting with nice patterns or texture that also fits the rest of the room. Combination is good particularly in bringing together opposite textures such as dull and bright, soft and hard.

If you have already selected your furnishings and other embellishments, another accent to consider is an artwork. Paintings are real gems in making any room look good. They have this sophisticated quality that can change a simple room into an elegant place in a snap, added to being a great conversation starter. One can just ask too many questions about art. If you're not really into it, a mere query of the price and the artist can go a long way for a good talk.

Of course, what good do the rug and paintings have if not seen properly? Pay attention to your lighting that it highlights your most significant decors and provides ample light to an important area in the room. Natural lighting like the morning sun is refreshing but come night time, there should be more than enough, not just to allow you to make your way through the room, but to add it some effects. Changing it from cheerful to cozy and festive to romantic is all about the lighting.

Don't limit yourself with your adornment of rugs. Define specific areas in the room and set off your room's central point by using more area rugs. With this however, smaller ones are recommended as two big rugs can divide the room in two.

Rug decorating has never been this easy with these rugs. Be sure to take a look at these modern round area rugs for the latest information.
