Shag Rug Information

If you're a big fan of the 60's and the 70's, you'll be pleased to know that a popular decor of that era is still around up to this day and has gained fan clubs from the new millennium crowd. Please welcome, the shag rug!

Typically shag rugs can be made from cotton, acrylic, polypropylene and nylon and are available in a host of colors to suit every taste and need. These rugs all have a similarity in appearance in the sense that their texture and appearance consist of strands of knotted material. These are either short or long in appearance or a combination of both.

Flokati is one kind of shag rug, which was originally used as a clothing material in ancient Greece, especially made for outdoor wear. Flokati is one of the most sought-after rugs and is made from 100% wool material. It says it all, doesn't it? A soft, cushiony rug to soothe your tired feet. It makes you think of a cozy rainy afternoon, warm and relaxed while sipping hot chocolate.

Next is the Aros rug. As with the Flokati, Aros is also made from wool and expectedly so, is praised for its soft and rich texture.

Love Fur is another on the list and this rug is made out of acrylic. This one is considerably cheaper than the rest.

One shag area rug that will cost you just that little bit extra, though, is the leather shag rug - usually made from cow hide or suede… or a combination of both. Like the Love Fur this shag rug is new to the scene but has already made quite the impression among those members of society who deem themselves a bit more refined.

And last in the list of quality shag rugs is one that's also known as the "Shaggy" rug due to its appearance. It's more formally known as the Cotton Jersey shag rug and is made from short, thick strands which means that its appearance comes across as much more dense. Not only are these rugs comfortable to walk on or sit on, but it's one everyone just enjoys being around, perhaps due to its coziness. As such this makes the ideal rug for both, young and old as well as the rebellious at heart.

So as you can see, there is a rug for everyone out there. If you're having trouble choosing, then it would be better to look at the rest of the furniture you may have and see which of the colors and/or textures will match best.

Shag rug decorating has never been this easy with these rugs. Be sure to take a look at these flokati rugs for the latest information.
