A Guide To Rug Placement

Placing an area rug in the proper location is key. You want the rug to be secure to the floor so no one will slide if the rug moves. You also want to make sure the rug is in the location where nothing hazardous will occur like tripping over a corner of the area rug. They sell many different grip padding to place under area rugs to secure them onto their spots without having to worry about them sliding around.

You can create a comfortable and lovely sitting area in a large room when you set a couple of chairs and a small end table or coffee table around a round rug. The rug that you choose to define your sitting area will really end up setting the space apart from the rest of your room.

Often times it is common to have the front legs of your chairs on the rug. It is best if you do not have more than 60 centimeters of rug space that is empty behind the furniture. Whenever you arrange the rug and chairs in the sitting space it is best that people will be able to have both of their feet on the rug when sitting in the chairs.

Whenever you are trying to determine what size rug you should place in your dining room, you need to first measure the top of the table. Next add a total of twenty-four inches all the way around the table. This means make sure that there is at least six inches of rug extended from each side of the table. This will give a person space to be able to get in and out of his or her chair and be able to move closer or farther away from the table with the back legs of the chair able to remain on the rug. The other furniture in the dining room area should not be on the rug. Only the table and chairs should be on the rug in the dining area.

Bedrooms are another location that you may want to add a great area rug, either on each side of the bed or in front of the bed. It will add a different texture and feel to your style along with a warmer feeling. If you are looking for something which will cover your floors, search for an area rug which will be able to sit under your bed with a few extra inches to stick out on each side to give you that wonderful warm sensation when you step onto the floor on a cold morning.

If you are looking to design your bedroom with a few little area rugs here and there make sure they are secure on the ground. You don't want any accidents occurring especially when you first wake up. It's easier and more cost effective to purchase smaller area rugs rather than a large one in case you get overwhelmed and want to remove them. They are easier to store and much easier to find a different location for them if necessary.
