Can I machine wash the rugs in my bathroom?

Can you answer Danielle's question about rugs?:

I'm wondering if I can wash those bathroom rugs in the machine and just hang them up to dry? They are your average bathroom rugs with the rubbery material on the bottom but they have no tags so i'm clueless…. please help!

I wash mine all the time…. just shake them out really good before putting them in the washer on gentle speed. After, check your washer because some of the rubber backing will come off and you don't want it clogging your machine.

Hi, I always machine wash and dry my rugs and have never had a problem. They always come out like new. Just use a low heat.

I look at it this way. If I don't wash them, they will eventually look so bad I will have to throw them out. If I do wash them, they may look great.. If I do wash them, and they ruin, I will have to throw them out. So there are really only two possible outcomes. I would wash them and see what happens. Don't put them in the dryer.

Hand wash them or get a carpet cleaner .
So no .

I do that with mine

beware.. some of them are poorly made & will loose alot of thier fluff and you could find clumps in your washing machine — if they do that, just get rid of them

wash on cold with a tiny amount of laundry soap & no bleach… some borax if you have it & then add 1/2 cup vinegar in the washwater

keep an eye on your machine as it can get out of balance while washing those

Then hang to dry.. I usually just drape them over the top of the dryer with the rubber side up

Absolutely! BUT… make sure you use cold water and NO bleach. The warm water and/ or bleach will wear the rubber backing off of them. And no dryer either, same reason obviously. Good luck! :)

Yes You can!
I do it about once a week, I usually just wash all of them together & if you have extra room in the washer you can add your cleaning towels. I use a cold/cold cycle and NEVER put them in the dryer this causes the rubber backing to crumble and dry up.
Just hang them in the sun to dry and they should be dry by the evening :)

sure wash them alone though…sometimes the back stuff comes off but that usually happens in the dryer..hang them out to dry in the sunshine!

I clean mine in the wash all the time and I take them out side to dry. I wouldn't put them in the dryer because they have not tag on them to tell you if you can or not.
