Help, my rug stained my lynolium floor in my apartment, how can I remove the stain?
Can you answer cruisebird's question about rugs?:
I put a rug down in my apartment kitchen, I did use a protector that said it wouldn't stain floors. Well, my lynolium (sp) is now stained a medium yellow and I don't want to have to pay for damages when I move out in 2 weeks. I've already tried a mild bleach solution, it didn't work, but I didn't leave it on for very long. Any solutions?

Try some Ammonia, add a cup to a gallon of bleach.:)
DO NOT FOLLOW THE PREVIOUS INSTRUCTION!!!!
Either use amonia or bleach but do not mix the two - you will produce a toxic gas!!
If there was wax on the linolium that may be what has become discolored. Try using a product that will remove wax build up as it cleans.
Have you tried using something like the magic erasers? I am constantly amazed at what it will take off…of practically everything. Wouldn't hurt?
Rent a buffer for your floor…like the kind people use late at night on hospital floors or bank building floors. Use a product meant for stripping and cleaning film buildup off the linoleum. Then use a regular mop to dry the floor. Might take 2 times to get the floor one color again.
Practice with the machine BEFORE you start the job!! Lifting the handle up or pushing it down will direct the movement of the buffer from side to side.
I would go down to Home Depot or Lowes and ask them what I could use on my floor. Explain to them what happened and I bet they could give you some good advise….You could try ammonia on your floor but make sure you have good ventilation and open a window and possibly buy yourself a disposable face mask….Good Luck to you!
